About UsGlinkster brings the social Web to the gaming community. What is 'the social Web'? The social Web puts users in control of content. Excellent social news sites like DIGG and social bookmarking sites like Del.icio.us popularized this concept and were the driving force behind much of 'Web 2.0'. Glinkster makes no bones about it - we love these sites, and we were influenced by them. We encourage people to use them. We wanted to bring these concepts specifically into the gaming community. What can you Do Here? When you see something you think other gamers will find interesting, you can 'Glink' that link. That means you're voting for that link - you think it's cool or relevant to the gaming community. As others Glink the same link, it moves up through the other links and appears on the front page. This puts users in control of what appears or (probably more importantly) what doesn't appear on Glinkster. Social BookmarkingYou can also manage your gaming bookmarks at Glinkster. Next to everything you see on Glinkster, you'll see a 'Save This' button. Click this, and save that link to your personal bookmarks. Moreover, you can discover amazing new links by looking at the bookmarks of other users. Who knows what's cool out there better than other gamers? What the Heck is 'Tagging'?Tagging is just a way of labeling a link. You can also organize your bookmarks by tagging them. For example, if you see a cool World of Warcraft video on YouTube, you can bookmark it and then label it (tag it) as 'videos', 'world of warcraft', 'walk-throughs' and 'MMORPG'. The whenever you want to see all your bookmarks tagged as 'videos', simply click on the 'videos' tag. What's with the 'Glink Score'?We created a special section for explaining the Glink Score, and we encourage everyone to read that section by clicking here. Basically, all users are assigned a Glinkster Score that is calculated both on how active they are on the site and the quality of their activity. Since Glinkster relies on its users for voting on links, those with a higher Glinkster Score have more weight behind their vote than users with lower Glinkster Scores. See our Glinkster Score FAQ for more information. |
